The Teacher's Guide to Professional Mentorship
Why Mentorship Matters
Becoming certified is an important milestone, but it's only the beginning of becoming a great Pilates teacher.
Teaching is a profession built on experience. Every student you teach presents a new puzzle, and every lesson is an opportunity to refine your observation, communication and decision-making skills. That's why ongoing mentorship has always been such an important part of my own journey.
Learning Never Stops
More than twenty years into my teaching career, I still study regularly with my own teachers. Not because I need another qualification, but because every lesson deepens my understanding of the method and reminds me that there is always more to learn.
The best teachers remain students throughout their careers.
What Is Mentorship?
Mentorship isn't about criticism or assessment. It's a supportive process that helps you think more clearly about your teaching. Together we might discuss programming, client challenges, observation skills, cueing, teaching confidence or the reasoning behind particular exercise choices.
Sometimes a fresh perspective is all that's needed to unlock a solution.
Who Is Mentorship For?
Mentorship can benefit teachers at every stage of their career. You may be newly qualified and looking to build confidence. You may have been teaching for years but want to deepen your understanding of the Classical Method. Or perhaps you're preparing for advanced training and would like additional guidance along the way.
My Approach
Every teacher develops differently.
Rather than following a rigid formula, I aim to provide practical guidance that helps you become a more confident, thoughtful and independent teacher.
The goal isn't to teach you to teach like me.
It's to help you become the best version of yourself as a Pilates teacher.
